Hans Leo Cacdac, Secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers, ordered the recall of a staff member at the Migrant Workers Office in Bahrain after a viral video showed the employee behaving rudely toward overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) seeking cash aid. In the clip, the staff told OFWs that the distribution had ended and no more funds were available, dismissing their complaints and advising them to report to Manila if they wished. Undersecretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay clarified that financial assistance ranges from USD20 to USD50 for immediate needs, while larger amounts are provided upon arrival in Manila for homebound OFWs. The government emphasized that multiple agencies—including OWWA, DSWD, DOH, TESDA, and DOLE—work together to support OFWs. Cacdac assured that the government will continue serving OFWs with respect, humility, and diligence.
