MUNTINLUPA COURT DISMISSES DRUG CASE AGAINST DE LIMA

A Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court has ordered the termination of the last remaining drug case against Mamamayang Liberal Party-list Rep. Leila de Lima, in which she was previously acquitted.

The court granted the prosecution’s motion to withdraw their appeal to reverse her acquittal, citing constitutional protection against double jeopardy.

The withdrawal means the case is now officially closed and terminated.

Prosecutors initially filed the motion for reconsideration in July but later decided to pull back to avoid violating legal safeguards.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla criticized the appeal as “foolishness,” supporting the withdrawal decision.
