METRO MANILA AND BULACAN TO TRIAL ‘P29’ RICE PROGRAM STARTING JULY 5

The Department of Agriculture (DA) is launching “Program 29” on July 5, offering rice at P29 per kilo in Metro Manila and Bulacan’s vulnerable areas.

This initiative, initially available at 10 KADIWA centers, aims to benefit 6.9 million at-risk families or 35 million individuals.

Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. announced that the discounted rice will be sold every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to assess supply, demand, and logistics.

To prevent abuse, beneficiaries such as senior citizens, single parents, and PWDs are required to present valid IDs when purchasing rice subsidized under this program.

The DA plans to expand KADIWA centers in partnership with local governments to extend the reach of affordable food options in Metro Manila.
