Up to 980 families were displaced after a fire engulfed parts of Barangay 7 and spread to Barangay 5 in Cavite City on Sunday afternoon.
The blaze, suspected to have started around 3 p.m., quickly escalated to a second alarm, with firefighters managing to bring it under control by 5:30 p.m.
While the cause remains undetermined pending arson investigations, initial reports suggest it may have originated from welding activities in one of the residences.
Despite causing significant traffic disruptions, there were fortunately no casualties or injuries reported.
Affected families have sought refuge in nearby public schools converted into temporary evacuation centers.
