President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the efficient issuance of electronic visas for Indian nationals to boost Philippine tourism.
During a meeting with the Private Sector Advisory Council-Tourism Sector Group (PSAC-TSG), Marcos noted the need to streamline the process, which currently requires Indian nationals to report in person to the Philippine Embassy in New Delhi.
Business tycoon Lucio Tan highlighted that the month-long processing time for e-Visas makes the Philippines less appealing to Indian tourists.
The PSAC-TSG recommended engaging a third-party service provider to manage the e-Visa system more effectively.
India’s growing middle class and economy are projected to increase outbound trips to 30 million by 2025, making it a crucial market for Philippine tourism.
