President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will visit the United Nations headquarters in New York on March 9–10 to call for peace in the Middle East and support the Philippines’ bid for a non-permanent Security Council seat for 2027–2028, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
The trip comes amid escalating US-Israel strikes on Iran and retaliatory attacks, with over two million Filipinos living or working in the region.
Marcos will meet UN Secretary-General António Guterres, address the 70th Commission on the Status of Women, and speak at a special UN General Assembly session.
He will advocate for civilian protection, restraint, respect for international law, and a return to peace negotiations, while highlighting the Philippines’ multilateral stance.
The visit coincides with ongoing efforts to repatriate OFWs affected by the conflict, including the first batch of 299 Filipinos arriving from Dubai earlier this week.
