President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday directed newly appointed PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III to restore public trust by holding erring police officers accountable.
Speaking at the PNP change of command ceremony in Camp Crame, Marcos urged swift investigations of police misconduct and stressed the importance of street visibility to deter crime.
He called on the police to intensify patrols and be a dependable presence in crime-prone areas.
Marcos also emphasized the need to confront evolving threats like cybercrime, terrorism, and transnational offenses.
The President reiterated the government’s commitment to fighting illegal drugs, instructing closer collaboration with the PDEA to ensure the prosecution of all traffickers.
