President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. opened the 14th WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 in Pasay City on Monday, urging the youth to sharpen their skills, knowledge, and creativity.
He described skills as the “new global currency,” vital for innovation, industry, and success in a changing world.
The competition, which runs until August 30, is the biggest yet with 259 contestants competing in 32 skill areas across six major sectors.
Marcos emphasized that the event is not only a contest but also a platform for collaboration, cultural exchange, and pride for participating nations.
He also encouraged delegates to explore the Philippines beyond the competition, highlighting its culture, cuisine, and hospitality.
