President Marcos has signed Executive Order 99 to create the Presidential Filipinnovation Awards, recognizing outstanding Filipino innovators and enterprises.
The awards, based on the Philippine Innovation Act, aim to promote innovation as a key driver of national development and economic growth.
The annual competition will honor Filipino-owned products or services in early commercialization stages, with winners receiving medals, plaques, and grants for further development.
The National Innovation Council will oversee the selection process, ensuring transparency and fairness through a nationwide search and judging panels.
Funding will come from existing agency budgets initially, with future financing included in regular budget proposals.
