President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. plans to reinstate the rule requiring local government units (LGUs) to accept national infrastructure projects before they are officially declared completed.
He emphasized that this process, removed by the previous administration, is crucial to ensuring project quality and proper oversight.
Marcos recalled that during his time as governor, projects could not be marked complete without LGU acceptance, which involves clearance from the barangay, mayor, and provincial officials.
He expressed surprise that this rule had been discontinued, highlighting its importance in preventing poorly done or overpriced projects.
The President first announced the plan to revive the acceptance rule two weeks ago, directing the Department of Public Works and Highways to implement it as a safeguard, especially for flood control projects.
