Manila City Mayor Honey Lacuna announced that senior citizens can now claim their P3,000 allowance for the first quarter of the year starting March 10, through payouts in their respective barangays.
Approximately 200,000 senior citizens in the city will benefit from the doubled monthly allowance.
Lacuna emphasized that the process would be quicker and more convenient for claimants. In October 2024, she signed an ordinance doubling the monthly allowance from P500 to P1,000, matching the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s pension for indigent seniors.
Lacuna assured residents that the funds for these allowances come from taxes and revenues collected by the city, underscoring their contribution to the welfare of the people.
