MAJOR CULTURAL HUB: P1-B CONVENTION CENTER PLANNED FOR SILAY CITY

Negros Occidental is set to commence construction on its long-awaited Negros Occidental Convention Center (NOCC), a P1.03-billion project located in Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City.

The groundbreaking ceremony, led by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and other officials including DPWH Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo, marks the culmination of six years of planning.

Representative Francisco Benitez emphasized the center’s role in boosting tourism and the local economy, positioned near the Bacolod Silay Airport.

The two-story, 8,640-square-meter facility, built on a 3-hectare donated property, will be a certified green building incorporating sustainable practices for efficient operation.

Governor Lacson expressed optimism that the NOCC will spur economic growth, create jobs, and enhance cultural and educational exchanges, aiming to establish Negros Occidental as a premier convention hub in the Philippines.
