Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo has confirmed she will not run for any national post in the 2028 elections, saying she is likely to seek a second term as mayor instead.
Speaking in a radio interview, she said her decision is final, even as early survey results from OCTA Research showed a narrowing gap between her and Vice President Sara Duterte in presidential preference rankings.
Robredo made the statement amid growing political tensions involving Vice President Sara Duterte, who has announced plans to run for president in 2028 while facing impeachment complaints over alleged misuse of confidential funds and betrayal of public trust.
Robredo, who previously ran for president in 2022 before winning the Naga mayoralty, said she remains focused on local governance rather than national politics.
