Senator Lito Lapid expressed frustration over the bias against showbiz personalities like him who pursue public office, noting how actors face criticism while professionals are welcomed into politics.
Lapid, who is seeking re-election in the May 2025 Senate race, highlighted his legislative accomplishments, having authored over 900 bills, with about 100 becoming laws.
He admitted feeling hurt by the negative perception but emphasized his work, including laws like the Meat Labeling Act and the Kindergarten Education Act.
Lapid also credited his television exposure, especially with actor Coco Martin, for helping younger audiences recognize him.
Despite the criticisms, Lapid remains optimistic, ranking high in election surveys, partly due to his media presence.
