Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson assured that the Blue Ribbon Committee’s probe into anomalous flood control projects is impartial and will follow the evidence, amid criticism that some key figures are being spared.
Former Senate president Francis Escudero questioned why former Speaker Martin Romualdez, who was linked to the alleged scam, was excluded, while senators like him were being tagged as “fall guys.”
Lacson said the revelations on “humongous” budget insertions were meant to push both chambers to heed public outrage and ensure a pork-free budget in future years.
Meanwhile, the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) and the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) signed a cooperation pact, backed by the BSP, SEC, and IC, to strengthen the fight against corruption.
ICI chairman Andres Reyes Jr. said inter-agency cooperation is key to freezing ill-gotten wealth, recovering assets, and restoring integrity in public infrastructure.
