Veteran journalists Korina Sanchez and Julius Babao denied claims that they received P10 million from Curlee and Sarah Discaya in exchange for interview features, following a Facebook post by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto.
The producers of Sanchez’s shows issued a statement calling the allegation false and defamatory, asserting that no such financial arrangement existed and warning that the claim may constitute cyber libel.
They emphasized that the Discaya interviews were aired due to public interest in their rags-to-riches story and were not politically motivated or used for campaign purposes.
Babao also refuted the claim, stating that his interview focused solely on the couple’s business ventures, not politics, and occurred before any controversies or political plans surfaced.
Mayor Sotto, meanwhile, questioned the ethics of media figures interviewing aspiring politicians for large sums, clarifying that the P10 million figure was illustrative and not exact.
