IMEE MARCOS: PH HAD ‘COMPREHENSIVE PLAN’ TO SURRENDER DUTERTE TO ICC

Senator Imee Marcos’ preliminary report revealed that the Philippine government had a detailed plan to arrest former President Rodrigo Duterte and cooperate with the International Criminal Court (ICC), despite questions on sovereignty and due process.

Marcos claimed Duterte’s rights were violated, as no local warrant was issued, and his family was allegedly blocked from seeing him during his detention.

Malacañang, however, defended its actions, stating that the government was merely following international obligations while maintaining that sensitive matters related to Duterte’s case could not be made public.

Meanwhile, Duterte’s legal team is exploring interim release options, but the Palace warned this could lead to further ICC actions, such as freezing his assets.

Amid the controversy, Akbayan Rep. Perci Cendaña criticized attempts to compare Duterte to the late Senator Ninoy Aquino, calling it a “delusional” narrative.
