The Department of Budget and Management has presented the proposed PHP 6.352 trillion national budget for 2025 to the House of Representatives, with local government units receiving the largest allocation of PHP 1.035 trillion.
The budget includes significant increases in funding for climate change initiatives, water resources, and flood management, as well as allocations for national defense and social programs.
Speaker Martin Romualdez emphasized the need for careful scrutiny and collaborative efforts to ensure the budget addresses both immediate needs and long-term goals.
Rep. Zaldy Co called for transparency and fiscal responsibility in the deliberations, highlighting allocations for elections, agriculture, housing, and government salaries.
The proposed budget aims to support the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 and is expected to guide future policy and development efforts.
