The House Committee on Justice will discuss preliminary matters on Wednesday regarding impeachment complaints filed against Vice President Sara Duterte; most allegations are false or misleading, while acknowledging only basic facts about her public service.
Committee members, including Toby Tiangco, emphasized that the process should follow the same standards applied in the impeachment case against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Duterte’s legal team argued their reply demonstrates respect for the institution and highlights alleged double standards in how the complaints are evaluated.
Lawmakers will also consider procedural adjustments and seek plenary approval to hold sessions during recess to address the case.
