House Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan urged President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to establish an independent fact-finding commission to investigate extrajudicial killings linked to the previous administration’s drug war.
Libanan proposed a panel modeled after the Agrava Fact-Finding Board, which investigated the 1983 assassination of Senator Benigno Aquino Jr., emphasizing the need for impartial and politically neutral members.
The commission would aim to identify individuals criminally liable for the killings.
Libanan’s call comes as the House Quad Committee continues to probe the alleged killings during the Duterte administration.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin has affirmed the Marcos administration’s commitment to justice and the rule of law.
