A House leader has condemned Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) as the “worst curse” to afflict government systems, linking them to severe criminal activities including kidnapping, human trafficking, and money laundering.
During a joint investigation, Rep. Robert Ace Barbers described POGOs as hubs for organized crime, enabling syndicates to launder money and corrupt government officials.
The investigation revealed that these syndicates use POGOs to obtain fake identities and invest in real estate.
Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzales Jr. supported the unified investigation, emphasizing its importance for achieving results quickly.
The probe aims to uncover the full extent of the criminal network and support legislative solutions and prosecutions.
