GSIS, MAXICARE LAUNCH ZERO-INTEREST HMO FINANCING PROGRAM FOR GOVERNMENT WORKERS

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) partnered with Maxicare Healthcare Corp. to provide government employees access to HMO coverage through a zero-interest financing program payable over 12 months. The initiative, under GSIS’ proposed G-HEALTH program, allows members to use their medical allowance benefits without paying annual insurance premiums in one full payment. Around 214,000 regular GSIS members are expected to benefit from the initial rollout, with qualified dependents also eligible for enrollment. Members can select healthcare plans through the GSIS Touch mobile application, while GSIS will finance premiums and act only as a program administrator and financing intermediary. The partnership aims to make healthcare coverage more affordable and accessible for government workers while supporting efforts to improve employee health benefits.
