GRAFT CASE AGAINST PRIVATE SUPPLIER DROPPED BY SANDIGANBAYAN

The Sandiganbayan has dismissed a graft case against Sisinio Villacin Jr., a private supplier and co-accused in a pork barrel scam involving former Cebu City councilor James Anthony Cuenco.

The court’s Fifth Division granted Villacin’s appeal to quash the charges filed by the Office of the Ombudsman in 2018, citing a lack of jurisdiction.

The court noted that Villacin’s case was similar to that of Cuenco and another co-accused, Manuel Tipgos, whose charges were also dismissed for the same reason.

Villacin had been accused of conniving with his co-accused to violate the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act in the alleged misuse of funds from Cuenco’s father’s health program.

The case involved the falsification of medical prescriptions and documents to justify the misuse of the funds allocated under the priority development assistance program.
