Senator Bong Go raised concerns during a Senate hearing about the lack of awareness among Filipinos regarding their Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) benefits, despite the P500 billion reserve fund.
He questioned why many Filipinos, particularly the poor, do not feel the impact of these benefits.
Go acknowledged PhilHealth reforms but emphasized the need to expand benefit packages and remove policies that disadvantage the poor.
He also highlighted the projected 18.3% rise in healthcare costs by 2025, which would further burden Filipinos who rely on out-of-pocket payments.
Go stressed the importance of monitoring PhilHealth’s programs to ensure they fulfill their promises and provide clear, accessible benefits to all members.
