GILAS PILIPINAS LOSES RAMOS, EDU AS ASIAN GAMES TITLE DEFENSE FACES ROSTER CHANGES

Gilas Pilipinas will compete in the 2026 Asian Games without key players Dwight Ramos and AJ Edu due to schedule conflicts with the Japan B.League Manila Games. Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) executive director Erika Dy confirmed that both players, who compete for Levanga Hokkaido and Gunma Crane Thunders, respectively, will be unavailable for the national team’s title defense. The SBP has submitted a shortlist of players to the Asian Games organizers, but the final 12-man roster has not yet been finalized. The team’s core players from the current Gilas pool are expected to lead the campaign, while additional eligible players for Asian Games competition are also being considered. The SBP has also submitted a shortlist for the women’s national basketball team under new head coach BT Toews.
