FILIPINO STUDENTS WIN BIG AT 66TH INTERNATIONAL MATH OLYMPIAD IN AUSTRALIA

Filipino high school students won three awards at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) held in Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia, from July 10 to 20.

Jerome Austin Te of Jubilee Christian Academy earned his third consecutive silver medal, while Ervin Joshua Bautista of Southville International School and Colleges won a bronze medal, and Mark Justin Villafuerte of De La Salle Integrated School-Manila received an honorable mention.

The Philippine team ranked 66th out of 110 participating countries, with 630 contestants competing this year.

The team was supported by leaders and trainers from the Mathematical Society of the Philippines and the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute.

Despite earning fewer awards than last year, the Philippine team continues to gain recognition on the global math stage.
