FASTER PERMITS, SMARTER INSPECTIONS: QUEZON CITY’S NEW SYSTEM

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has rolled out a risk-based business permit processing system that classifies businesses as low, medium, or high-risk, streamlining permit issuance and inspection schedules.

Under the new system, low-risk business applications are processed within three working days, medium-risk applications in seven days, and high-risk applications in twenty days, while renewals are completed within three days if there are no violations.

Inspections will generally occur after permits are issued, with high-risk businesses inspected annually, medium-risk businesses every two years, and low-risk businesses every three years.

The system aims to reduce red tape, speed up approvals for simpler enterprises, and focus regulatory attention where it is most needed.

Belmonte said the initiative balances faster service for entrepreneurs with public safety and compliance requirements.
