The House of Representatives has summoned former Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña to provide testimony in an investigation into illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) sites and extrajudicial killings (EJKs).
The joint committee, scheduled to meet on September 19, invited Osmeña due to his extensive local governance experience.
The inquiry follows recent raids revealing illegal POGO operations and the rescue of nearly 200 individuals allegedly coerced into online scamming.
Osmeña’s insights are hoped to contribute to new legislation addressing these issues, though he has yet to confirm his participation.
His summons comes amid controversy involving former Cebu City Police Chief Royina Garma, who was recently detained for evasive responses in a related EJK inquiry.
