On the 18th anniversary of Kobe Bryant’s historic 81-point game, NBA stars Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns delivered career-high performances, albeit with different outcomes.
Reigning MVP Joel Embiid set a franchise record by scoring 70 points and grabbing 18 rebounds as the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the San Antonio Spurs 133-123.
Meanwhile, Karl-Anthony Towns scored 62 points for the Minnesota Timberwolves, breaking his franchise record, but the Charlotte Hornets managed to secure a 128-125 victory.
Towns missed a final 3-point attempt in the last second of regulation, preventing overtime.
The remarkable scoring displays by Embiid and Towns coincided with the anniversary of Kobe Bryant’s iconic 81-point game for the Los Angeles Lakers against the Toronto Raptors.
