Eight DPWH Region IV-B officials linked to alleged graft and malversation in flood control projects have been detained at BJMP facilities in Quezon City, while their arraignments are scheduled for Nov. 27 and Dec. 2.
Seven surrendered voluntarily, while one was arrested by the NBI, all co-accused of resigning from Ako Bicol party-list representative Zaldy Co, who remains at large.
President Marcos and government officials emphasized that no political considerations will affect the pursuit of the accused, and Interpol has issued a blue notice against Co, who may be traveling abroad with a different passport.
Authorities warned others assisting fugitives that they will also be held accountable if they harbor suspects.
Lawmaker Harold Duterte called for swift and impartial prosecution of all involved, insisting that both the foot soldiers and masterminds of corruption be held accountable and public funds returned.
