The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has extended PHP7.1 million in humanitarian aid to families affected by a recent fire along NIA Road in Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City, which left around 4,000 families homeless. According to Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao, relief operations included the distribution of sleeping kits, ready-to-eat food packs, family food packs, kitchen kits, and hygiene kits to evacuees. The agency also deployed a mobile kitchen to provide hot meals to displaced residents staying in evacuation centers. As of Monday morning, about 2,775 families or 8,289 individuals were sheltering in evacuation sites, while 488 houses were reported totally damaged. DSWD said it will continue monitoring the situation and delivering assistance in line with directives from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian.
