The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is preparing an internal “cleansing” to hold officials accountable for alleged ghost and substandard flood control projects in Bulacan.
Secretary Manuel Bonoan said district engineers and personnel involved in these anomalies are under review, with cases and sanctions expected.
The ongoing audit flagged questionable projects in Bulacan Engineering District 1, placing District Engineer Henry Alcantara on “floating status” pending his explanation.
A Senate hearing revealed that one contractor secured 85 projects worth ₱5.971 billion, raising concerns over procurement and oversight.
Despite political pressure and calls for his resignation, Bonoan affirmed that corruption issues are manageable and vowed to address any external pressures on his staff.
