DOJ WARNS FOREIGN POGO WORKERS OF LEGAL ACTION AFTER BAN DEADLINE

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has issued a stern warning to foreign workers in the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) industry who remain in the country despite the nationwide ban that took effect on December 31, 2024.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla confirmed that around 11,000 foreign POGO workers, including those who failed to leave or downgrade their visas, are still in the Philippines.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has intensified operations to identify and deport these individuals in compliance with President Marcos’ directive to phase out the POGO industry.

Remulla reiterated the government’s unwavering stance against POGOs, citing their association with criminal activities such as human trafficking and abduction.

The DOJ pledged full support for the administration’s efforts to ensure the safety and welfare of Filipinos.
