The Department of Justice (DOJ) has allowed former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. until March 30 to respond to allegations involving four additional respondents in his plunder case linked to anomalous flood control projects.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) had moved to include former Department of Public Works and Highways engineers Denryl Caesar Cortuna, Manny Bulusan, Ruel Umali, and Arturo Gonzales Jr., a motion approved by DOJ prosecutors.
Revilla’s opposition to their inclusion was rejected, with DOJ citing the need for “orderly administration of justice.”
The original charges involve malversation, perjury, graft, and falsification, related to alleged kickbacks from SYMS Construction Trading projects.
Earlier, cases from the first batch of ghost projects were filed before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court and the Sandiganbayan.
