DMW BOOSTS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR FILIPINO OVERSEAS WORKERS AND FAMILIES

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has increased the financial assistance available to distressed Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families under the AKSYON Fund, according to Department Order No. 5.

The new guidelines provide up to PHP 50,000 for OFWs affected by economic downturns, abuses, illegal recruitment, or natural calamities, and the same amount for the next of kin of incarcerated OFWs.

For more severe situations, including serious illness or displacement due to conflict, the assistance is raised to PHP 75,000, and PHP 100,000 is allocated for the families of OFWs who pass away abroad or within a year of returning to the Philippines.

Requests for financial aid can be submitted through various channels, including Migrant Workers’ Offices, airports, and bank transfers.

The DMW aims to ensure effective support and recovery for OFWs and their families facing distressing circumstances.
