Former Bamban Mayor Alice Guo pleaded not guilty to charges of material misrepresentation related to her candidacy, as her citizenship is under question. The Commission on Elections accuses her of being a Chinese citizen, with evidence linking her fingerprints to another identity. Aside from this case, Guo faces other charges, including graft and human trafficking, and is under congressional investigation for alleged links to Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs). A preliminary conference for the case is set for February, and Guo maintains she is a Filipino citizen. Despite her legal troubles, she plans to run for reelection in 2025.
