The recent ransomware attack on the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has prompted the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to take swift action.
The DICT has begun an investigation to identify the culprits behind the attack and is working diligently to restore PhilHealth’s security systems and functionality.
In a statement released on Thursday, the DICT expressed its condemnation of the illegal attempt to access the personal information of PhilHealth members through the ransomware attack.
The department assured the public that it is actively monitoring and analyzing the acquired logs from the affected systems to gather crucial evidence for the investigation.
Furthermore, the DICT is committed to safeguarding government systems and infrastructure from malicious cyber threats. It has already initiated efforts to fully restore PhilHealth’s security, with a particular focus on restoring the functionality of its DNS server.
