The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) pledged to continue efforts to revive the Pasig River, following positive feedback on the Marcos administration’s Pasig Bigyang Buhay Muli project.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar emphasized that the project is not just about rehabilitation but also about preserving the country’s history and culture.
The third phase of the project, inaugurated by President Marcos, focuses on design improvements for the riverfront, aiming to create a people-centered park with walkways and bicycle lanes.
When completed, the project will connect key cultural landmarks and allow seamless travel from Manila Bay to Laguna de Bay.
With an estimated timeline of three to five years, the project is funded by private sector donations and aims to transform the river into a hub for transport, recreation, and tourism.
