DEPED PUSHES FOR PROMOTIONS TO MEET 1:1 PRINCIPAL-SCHOOL POLICY

The Department of Education (DepEd) emphasized the importance of prioritizing the promotion and reclassification of teachers to address the shortage of school heads and implement the 1:1 principal-to-school policy.

DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara revealed plans to create and deploy principal positions in schools without a designated head.

The department also highlighted the need to reallocate school heads from areas with an oversupply to those facing shortages, while ensuring fairness in the distribution process.

To support this, DepEd plans to decentralize the National Qualifying Examination for School Heads (NQESH) and provide targeted training for aspiring school leaders.

According to a report, approximately 24,916 public schools currently lack principals.
