The Department of Education (DepEd) has prohibited public schools from engaging in partisan political activities or campaigning for candidates during graduation and moving-up ceremonies.
In a memorandum signed by Education Secretary Sonny Angara, DepEd officials warned that violators could face penalties.
Schools are also advised to avoid extravagant spending and ensure that graduation expenses are covered by the school’s operating budget.
Meanwhile, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has warned of the return of fraudsters offering manipulated election results ahead of the May midterm polls.
Additionally, Comelec’s “Oplan Baklas” will begin on March 28 to remove illegal campaign materials.
