The Philippine National Police (PNP) has reassigned or relieved 1,308 officers with relatives running in the 2025 midterm elections to ensure non-partisanship.
According to PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, these officers are part of the 1,586 personnel who declared family ties up to the fourth degree of consanguinity with political candidates.
Relief orders for an additional 278 officers are being processed.
The most affected regions include the Cordilleras, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.
Fajardo warned that officers who fail to disclose their relatives running for office may face administrative cases.
