The Philippine General Hospital (PGH) has begun construction on a new 16-story specialty center designed to expand healthcare access for both pediatric and adult patients.
The facility will feature 450 beds, modern emergency and operating rooms, intensive care units, outpatient clinics, and additional amenities such as dormitories and a convention center.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by key government officials, including First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos and Health Secretary Ted Herbosa.
The first phase of the project, costing P675.5 million, is expected to be completed by 2027.
PGH director Dr. Gerardo Legaspi emphasized that the new center will strengthen public healthcare infrastructure and better serve patients with complex medical needs.
