COMELEC: MOST LGUS COMPLY WITH REMOVAL OF POLITICAL MATERIALS

A regional official said 18 complaints have been forwarded to the Central Office for decision, stressing that the final resolution is beyond the authority of the regional level.

The Commission on Elections regional office also handles other complaints requiring immediate action or clarification in coordination with local government units (LGUs).

Regional director Ingeniero said several LGUs have already complied with directives to remove materials seen as promoting public officials using government resources.

He noted examples in Roxas City and Pavia, Iloilo, where such materials were taken down in line with policy.

While he could not confirm full compliance, he said most LGUs in the region are following the directive.
