The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has confirmed that the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) will proceed as scheduled on December 1, with 55% of preparations already complete.
Comelec Chairman George Garcia, currently in the Negros Island Region for a post-election assessment, said there is no sign from Congress of a postponement.
The BSKE will be held manually, shortly after the Bangsamoro parliamentary elections in October.
Voter registration is set for July 1–11, while the filing of candidacies will run from October 1–7, followed by the campaign period from November 25–29.
Garcia reminded local officials that they may endorse candidates but are prohibited from using public resources for campaigns.
