CHINESE GOVERNMENT DENIES MISSILE TARGETING ALLEGATIONS AGAINST PH

China refuted claims by Sen. Imee Marcos that it has missiles aimed at the Philippines, asserting it poses no threat and is committed to peaceful development and a defensive national defense policy.

Mao Ning, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman, stated China would act to protect its rights and interests if threatened but urged countries to maintain regional peace and stability.

Marcos, in a viral video, claimed China identified 25 targets in the Philippines, arguing that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s alignment with the US made China view the Philippines as an adversary.

Additionally, China dismissed the Philippines’ demand for P60 million in damages from a June 17 incident involving the China Coast Guard blocking a Philippine resupply mission to Ayungin Shoal.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines also seek compensation for damaged property and medical expenses for a soldier injured during the incident.
