The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) confirmed the presence of over 50 Chinese Maritime Militia vessels near Rozul Reef, well within the country’s exclusive economic zone in the West Philippine Sea.
Two PCG vessels and a surveillance aircraft were dispatched to challenge the Chinese vessels, which did not respond to warnings to leave the area.
The PCG documented the vessels and vowed to continue patrolling Philippine waters to enforce maritime laws and uphold sovereignty.
Meanwhile, the PCG and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources completed a floating aggregate device (FAD) deployment in nearby shoals to support Filipino fishermen’s livelihoods, despite interference from Chinese Coast Guard vessels.
The government emphasized its commitment to defend territorial rights peacefully and lawfully, ensuring protection and empowerment for Filipino fishermen.
