The Chinese embassy in Manila has lodged a diplomatic protest with Japan over remarks by Japanese Ambassador Kazuya Endo, who criticized China’s ramming of a Philippine vessel at Escoda Shoal.
The Chinese embassy condemned Endo’s comments as irresponsible and biased, accusing him of ignoring facts and exacerbating tensions.
Endo had called the incident “another unacceptable development” and urged China to adhere to international law and peaceful dispute resolution.
The Japanese Foreign Ministry has emphasized the South China Sea’s impact on regional peace and stability.
Despite the recent aggression, China insists it is committed to resolving maritime disputes through dialogue and urges Japan to contribute positively to regional stability.
