‘CHESS FOR JAS’ BENEFIT TOURNEY BRINGS WOODPUSHERS TOGETHER

The Philippine chess community will hold the CHESS for JAS Tournament on July 26 at NCCC Mall in Davao City to raise funds for residents of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental, who were affected by recent earthquakes and floods.

Spearheaded by Jessie Villasin, the charity event has received strong support from individuals and business leaders committed to helping the affected community through chess.

Niel Dumlao donated the initial ₱5,000 for the Blitz Event, while Eduard Sumergido, Engr. Russel Derecho and Jeth Rafael helped increase the prize fund to ₱10,000.

PCAP Chairman Michael Angelo Ong Chua also backed the initiative, continuing his support for community-based chess programs.

Organizers said the tournament aims not only to raise funds but also to show how chess can unite people for a meaningful cause.
