The Philippine National Police (PNP) has stepped up its nationwide manhunt for gambling tycoon Charlie “Atong” Ang, wanted for the murders of over 100 cockfight enthusiasts.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. reported that police have raided nearly 20 of Ang’s properties, some multiple times, without success.
Authorities are also monitoring Ang’s close associates and checking reports of his presence on various islands, all of which have proven unverified.
The PNP is coordinating with international partners amid concerns that Ang may have assumed a different identity to leave the country, though indicators suggest he remains in the Philippines.
The intensified operations are also targeting other high-profile fugitives, including former Bureau of Corrections chief Gerald Bantag and ex-lawmaker Zaldy Co.
