The city government plans to enhance environmental protection efforts with a PHP17 million investment in air quality monitoring equipment, announced Armen Cuenca of the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office during a recent media forum.
This initiative aims to prepare the city for future environmental challenges and improve public awareness of air pollution issues.
Cuenca highlighted the equipment’s capability to measure various air particles, emphasizing its importance in monitoring haze and other pollutants.
Meanwhile, concerns over high fecal coliform levels in the city’s water bodies were also raised, with plans underway to address these through new wastewater treatment facilities by 2027.
